Assistant Program Coordinator at American International Health Alliance

The American International Health Alliance - Twinning Center would like to recruit an Assistant Program Coordinator to support the Leadership Incubation Program for Health (LIP-H), a leadership training program designed for young leaders being implemented in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), and the International Institute for Primary Health Care – Ethiopia (IPHC-E).

Institutional mandate:

The International Institute for Primary Health Care – Ethiopia (IPHC-E) is an organization affiliated with the FMOH and supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which provides technical assistance to countries building robust Primary Health Care systems through capacity building training, program design, and implementation. It also supports the FMOH through evidence-based policy recommendations, training of Primary Health Care (PHC) leaders, implementation of innovation labs, and engagement on PHC-related policy and strategy designs. IPHC-E engages in global advocacy to make PHC a primary driver in achieving Universal Health Coverage.

Scope of work:

The Assistant Program Coordinator will be a member of the core LIP team operating under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and in close collaboration with other members of the core team. She or he will assist the Program Coordinator in planning and organizing all LIP-related activities and carrying out important operational duties to ensure the effective management of the Leadership Incubation Program. Precisely, the Assistant Program Coordinator is expected to assist the Program Coordinator:

  • Analyze all previous and ongoing planning and implementation activities initiated prior to his/her recruitment to verify quality and ensure activities achieve LIP’s objectives and outcomes.
  • Oversee the design of LIP facilitator and trainer manuals
  • Support the core team with reviewing the LIP training modules
  • Coordinate the training sessions and all the necessary logistics needed for the training
  • Manage all daily activities related to LIP, including:
  •  Recruiting, appointing, and managing all personnel required for the implementation of LIP activities, such as trainers, mentors, coaches, graphic designers, etc. 
  • Prepare, modify, and file reports and documentation as necessary, including:
  • Monthly activity/ training reports
  • Post-program (course) follow-up plan documentation
  • Monitor and evaluate reports of daily course activities
  • Facilitate the final evaluation of the LIP-H program
Terms of employment: 

Until September 30, 2024 with the possibility of extension

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in public health or a related field
  • Three years of proven experience as an assistant program coordinator or other related field
  • Ability to work with diverse and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and adherence to deadlines
  • Able to follow directions well
  • Self-motivated
  • Able to work with minimal guidance
