Role purpose: 
Executive Head of M-PESA Analytics, Pricing and CVM is a strategic role responsible for leading the commercial strategy, pricing, and customer value management efforts to maximize revenue growth and market share. The role involves delivery comprehensive reporting and data insights, aligning product and service offerings with market opportunities, optimizing pricing strategies, and managing customer value to drive growth and competitive advantage.
The role is crucial for achieving of revenue and cost commitments and ensuring measures are in place to meet those commitments, all in alignment with MPESA Safaricom Ethiopia’s strategy.

 

Role description: 

 

Planning and Strategy:
•    Conduct in-depth analysis of the payment and financial services industry’s macroenvironment, identifying key trends, opportunities, and challenges.
•    Stay informed on the latest technological advancements, disruptive models, and industry trends to support informed strategic decisions.
•    Formulate forward-thinking strategies that leverage market opportunities, meet customer demands, and set M-PESA apart in a competitive environment.
•    Proactively monitor industry trends and shifts, ensuring strategies are agile and responsive to the evolving market landscape.

 

Pricing and Revenue Management:


•    Implement effective pricing models to maximize revenue and value-added services.
•    Conduct comprehensive analyses of market trends, competitor successes, and consumer behaviors to refine pricing and introduce innovative pricing strategies.
•    In charge of reviewing and managing revenue-sharing terms and pricing for all new commercial partnerships and agreements.

Data Analytics and Business Reporting, 
•    Set up a robust and automated system for business analytics and reporting, providing essential insights to the executive team on a consistent basis.
•    Utilize data analytics to drive product innovation, enhance customer experience, and improve existing services.
•    Provide specific data insights to support decision making on critical areas

Customer Value Management (CVM):
•    Champion customer-centric initiatives, ensuring the development and implementation of effective CVM strategies.
•    Utilize data analysis and modeling to identify cross-selling and upselling opportunities, enhancing customer engagement and revenue streams.
•    Leverage customer insights to refine existing products, develop new offerings, and maintain a competitive edge in the market.
•    Foster Cross-Functional Collaboration
•    Work closely with product, marketing, and finance teams to ensure strategic alignment and seamless execution of initiatives.
•    Encourage innovation and collaboration across teams to achieve unified business objectives.

 

Lead and Develop Teams
•    Build and lead a high-caliber team focused on data science, CVM, and pricing.
•    Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Key performance indicators:

•    Timely and insightful analytics & reporting contributing to strategic decision-making. 
•    Successful implementation pricing models resulting in revenue growth. 
•    Effective CVM strategies leading to enhanced customer satisfaction, loyalty and growth 
•    Robust market intelligence reports influencing product development and business strategy. 
•    Achievement of revenue and cost commitments through effective commercial planning. 

 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:


•    Advanced degree in Data science, , Finance, Marketing, or a related field. 
•    Over 7 years of senior leadership experience in data analytics, business reporting, CVM and pricing within the fintech, banking or digital payments sectors. 
•    Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic commercial plans and innovative pricing strategies. 
•    Very strong analytical skills with a proven ability to translate data into actionable insights. 
•    Exceptional leadership abilities and experience managing cross-functional teams. 
•    Excellent communication skills, with the aptitude to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
