Role purpose:
Reporting to the Senior Product Manager - M-PESA Business Payments, the role, Partnership Manager - M-PESA Business Payments will champion establishment of impactful partnerships with online businesses and ensure M-PESA remains the Strategic Partner of choice for financial services through innovation and execution of strategic business projects.
The Partnership Manager - M-PESA Business Payments, will lead and coordinate partners’ engagement for this segment. Our product portfolio includes B2C, C2B API, Open API and Mini programs that will be principal solutions that the Partnerships Manager will propose within the segment.
Additionally, the Partnership Manager - M-PESA Business Payments actively supports the partners in their day-to-day relationship and partnership engagement processes and actions. The role-holder will need to understand the product well and work with the different cross-functional teams to ensure swift execution of product integrations and launches. The person will be responsible for effective communications with the partners, coordination of capacity strengthening and exchange processes, providing and/or mobilizing support to partners, facilitating visibility of partners’ work, coordination among partners and M-PESA Safaricom teams.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
· Work with the products, technology and marketing teams to close new partnerships and the ones in the pipeline
· Mapping for new/potential partners in the country.
· Ensure relevant policies are shared with all partners after the onboarding
· Act as partners’ focal point to respond to partner’s requests in a timely manner.
· Liaise with partners on a very regular basis to follow up on challenges of implementation or new requests and keep records accordingly.
· Responsible for preparing and maintaining documentation for segment-related activities in a clean, tidy, and well-organized manner all the time.
· Plan and execute segment specific commercial activity, e.g., developers cocktail, hackathon
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field from a recognized university
· A master’s degree or Chartered Financial Analyst will be an added advantage
· At least 5-8 years’ experience in a large corporate or multinational company, demonstrated progression and at least 3 years’ experience in a Bank or Financial Services industry handling partnerships, business development and strategy formulation. Experience in Digital Banking is an added advantage.
· Experience in management of budgets and forecasts in a large company
· Track record of innovation and development of new products and services
· Must demonstrate strategy execution/delivery.
· Must have excellent financial and analytical skills.
