Opportunity 

Pharo Schools Nairobi is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Procurement Officer to manage our procurement activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of the daily procurement activities in the School from the request to the delivery of goods. The role is in charge of evaluating suppliers, products, and services, negotiating contracts, and ensuring that approved purchases are cost-efficient and of high quality.


Job Title: Procurement Officer 

Report to: Senior Finance Officer

Job Location: Nairobi - Komarock, Nairobi.

Contract: 1 year (with a possibility of renewal)


Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Review the current supplier list and conduct a market survey to benchmark the current supplier list to determine if they are worth maintaining.
  • Assist in developing procedures, processes, and policies to guide the procurement function.
  • Assist in establishing cost parameters and budgets for purchases on an annual basis and ensure adherence to the budgets and annual procurement plan.
  • Manage the School’s records of prices, performance, and stock levels of commodities especially supplies in the kitchen and academics department.
  • Evaluate responses from various suppliers through reference to material specifications, price, and service and negotiate for the best deals in terms of cost and quality as well as after-sale services applicable.
  • Analyse all requisitions to ensure all purchases are consistent with the needs of the School and also ensure that the procurement processes are adhered to at all times.
  • Liaise with the Accounts Office for payments of goods, services, and works procured to suppliers within the agreed timelines and policies.
  • Prepare reports on the purchases, supplier management progress, stock levels, and requisitions as well as budget analysis on a monthly basis.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the management


Minimum Requirements

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in Purchasing and Supplies or a related area.
  • CIPS/CPSB qualified or pursuing the same will be an added advantage.
  • Professional membership will be an added advantage (KISM/CIPS).
  • At least 3 years of previous experience in a similar role.
  • High levels of integrity.
  • Inventory/record-keeping experience will be an added advantage
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
