Job Description:

The job purpose of the MNCH (Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health) SBC (Social and Behavior Change) Coordinator is to spearhead efforts in promoting positive health behaviors and creating an enabling environment for mothers, newborns, and children to access essential health services, particularly increase the ANC ( Anti Natal Care) follow-up or compliance for all targeted mothers. Within this role, the coordinator is responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring culturally-sensitive SBC interventions that address key MNCH challenges in the assigned region or district. This involves working closely with community stakeholders, health extension workers, health development armies, village health leaders, and local authorities to identify barriers, develop tailored communication strategies, and facilitate capacity-building initiatives. The coordinator also plays a crucial role in fostering community dialogues and engagement, community sensitization and mobilization, and coordinating with relevant partners to ensure the sustainability and scalability of MNCH SBC interventions.

  • Develop and implement social and behavior change communication strategies to promote positive health behaviors related to maternal, newborn and child health.
  • Collaborate with community leaders, health care providers, and other stakeholders to identify key messages, target audiences and effective communication channels.
  • Plan and conduct training sessions and workshops for community health workers and other stakeholders on SBC strategies and techniques.
  • Coordinate the production and dissemination of educational materials, including brochures, posters, videos, and radio broadcasts.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on the progress and impact of SBC activities for donors, partners and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact of SBC activities on health behaviors and outcomes and make adjustments as needed.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with local organizations and agencies to support SBC initiatives.

KNOWLEDGE/QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience

Minimum of 5 years of experience in social and behavior change communication, preferably in maternal, newborn and child health programs.

Required Education, training, license, registration, and certification

Bachelor's degree in public health, social science or related field. Master's degree preferred. Certificate on SBC, IPC, and MNCH program trainings.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

Frequent travel to the project sites and to NO as needed
