Opportunity
Pharo School Nairobi is seeking highly competent and dedicated teachers to teach Upper Primary and Junior Secondary level in the following subject areas:
- Creative Arts (with a strong emphasis on Music)
- English, Agriculture and Nutrition Studies.
The ideal candidates will be passionate educators committed to delivering quality education. The key responsibilities include meticulously planning and delivering lessons aligned with the curriculum, continuously assessing learner progress and maintaining accurate records, and actively participating in the school’s academic and co-curricular programs.

Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching and Learning
- Ensure timely preparation of termly and annual plans, course outlines, and daily lesson plans as required by the school and incorporate experiments and illustrations at all times.
- Deliver lessons to the highest standards, ensuring the lessons are planned and tailored to the educational needs, abilities, and achievements of individual learners and learner groups.
- Teach lessons according to the scheduled timetable, maintaining flexibility to accommodate varying learning styles and paces.
- Engage actively in the implementation of the school’s co-curricular and social support activities.
- Display excellent subject knowledge and continually find opportunities to develop it.
- Set and mark exercises, tests, and assessments in a timely manner for constant monitoring of learners' daily learning progress and achievement.
- Keep a record of all assessment scores to ensure that progress is benchmarked against previous scores.
- Prepare and keep records of schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, exercises, tests, and assessment scores for each class taught.
- Submit these records for inspection to the Head of Department, and to the Senior Teachers of the school at least once every month or as required.
- Prepare progress report of taught subjects, challenges faced & recommendations and forward the same to the Head of Department and Senior Teacher.
- Assign quality & adequate homework and classwork to learners, mark them promptly, and issue books for corrections and checking.
- Collaborate with the Classroom teacher to sign off learners’ diaries of homework, assignments, and projects completed.
- Collaborate with the Classroom teacher to fill and sign off learners’ report forms in the subject taught.
- Ensure proper maintenance and use of teaching and learning materials.
- Keep custody of teaching/ learning materials or any other school inventory assigned.
- Assessing, recording, and reporting on the development, progress, attainment, and behavior of the learners.
General
- Engage in CPD opportunities across the department and school as a whole.
- Ensure, with colleagues, that the learning environment within the classroom is engaging and promotes critical thinking and enthusiasm for the subject.
- Observe other teachers in the department regularly and offer the opportunity for them to observe you so that good practice is widely shared.
- Design, prepare, and deliver extracurricular activities.
- Adhere to the child safeguarding policy and other school policies.
- Attend regular staff and department meetings.
- Supervise learners at lunchtime, study time, or even school breaks, and in other assigned.
- Maintain a filing system as appropriate - to include shared resources, past papers for internal and external exams, and inset/CPD material.
- Any other duty as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements
- Diploma/Degree in Education from a recognized institution.
- TSC Registration Certificate.
- 3 years experience working as a teacher.
- Strong understanding of the CBC Curriculum.
- STEM experience is an added advantage.
- Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Email usage, Google Suite, and internet searching, and willing to learn new computer skills.
- Must be active in extracurricular activities.
- Strong planning and organisation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills to work closely with learners and parents.
