The Austrian Development Agency (ADA) is the operational unit of the Austrian Development Cooperation (ADC) and is responsible for implementing all bilateral programmes and projects in ADC’s partner countries on behalf of the government of Austria.

Austrian Development Cooperation aims to reduce poverty, conserve natural resources, and promote peace and human security in all interventions. Ethiopia has been a priority country of the Austrian Development Cooperation since 1993, with project interventions aligned with Ethiopia’s national and local development strategies.

Position : Trainee

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields of study (business administration, social sciences, finance and accounting, or similar).
  • Between six months and two years of work experience in local or international organizations, including internships.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable personality with excellent communication skills.
  • Commitment to learning and expanding knowledge base.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
  • Ability to prioritize work efficiently and productively.
  • Very good command of spoken and written English
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written Amharic and other major national languages

Key Responsibilities:

Office Management Support:

  • Register and distribute incoming and outgoing correspondence, and prepare general letters.
  • Assist the office team with photocopying, binding, and preparing documents.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and make calls on behalf of the office.
  • Keep up-to-date with general information on hotels, vehicle rentals, airfares, etc.
  • Provide organizational support to the Counsellor and Program Managers in organizing meetings and arranging appointments for visitors and guests.
  • Assist in preparing duty travel for staff members, including booking flight tickets and hotels.
  • Assist in handling inventory and updating the office’s inventory list.
  • Assist with office procurement (stationery, cleaning supplies, office equipment, etc.).
  • Assist in HR management (leave and sick leave records).

Petty Cash Management:

  • Handle petty cash and pay advances as per office regulations.
  • Keep the cash book up-to-date and prepare monthly cash counts.

Communication, Knowledge Management & Documentation:

  • Support the CO’s focal point for communication with the ADA communication team.
  • Assist the Head of Office with social media content preparation.
  • Assist Program Managers with drafting communication input for the ADA intranet.
  • Assist the Communication and Logistics Officer with photo selections and documentation for communication purposes, as per ADA visibility and publication requirements.
