Role purpose:
• The position holder will manage the financial reporting requirements of the Group including consolidations, statutory reporting, and management of the interim and annual audit process
• To ensure that the group processes, compiles and reports the monthly, interim and annual financial accounts and results to management and the Group on a timely basis and in compliance with company procedures and the accounting policies set by the Group and in the formats prescribed
• To ensure that the business is able to process, compile and report the monthly financial accounts for fixed Assets, accounts payable (Local), prepayments and stocks to management and the Group on a timely basis. The preparation of these balance sheet assets and liability accounts should comply with company procedures and the accounting policies for the Vodafone Group and submitted in the formats prescribed
Key responsibilities
• Review and avail Monthly Consolidated Group Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash flow statements with Group KPIs for Subscribers, Usage, ARPUs and Margins
• Evaluate efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes, and implement process changes consistent with best practices
• Ensure full compliance with the Group accounting policy across all legal entities
• Develop, manage, and execute plans for implementation of new or updated accounting and reporting pronouncements
• Oversight of the periodic statutory financial reporting preparation, including disclosures for all Group entities
• Advise on the selection and adaption of relevant accounting policies and estimates
• Review of Group consolidations at various levels for statutory reporting purposes
• Manage the period close to ensure group reporting is smooth and there is nil post close adjustments.
• Planning and communicating the monthly, Interim and year-end reporting cycle ensuring reporting and filing targets are set and met on a timely manner
• Management of the group's financial reporting requirements to investors on a half-yearly and annual basis
• Maintain good working relationships with key investor Finance personnel to ensure requirements are understood and timelines are adhered to
• Management of the all-audit process, including coordination with the audit teams (internal and external), managing deliverables and responding to queries
• Ensure implementation of the company processes & procedures in the preparation of the accounting information while incorporating the International Financial Accounting Standards
• Supervise and deliver the monthly preparation of the monthly group Trial Balance, General ledger and subsidiary ledgers accounts for the timely reporting of the Group Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Cash flow.
• Coordinate group submissions and certifications on a regular basis as per group, Vodafone and Vodacom requirements.
• Ensure compliance with all IFRS and IAS guidelines in local and group reporting including coordination of adoption of new IFRS and other accounting standards and interpretation thereof for proper accounting.
• Support the business units in products ideation development and implementation ensuring correct reporting of revenues and costs is achieved at all times.
• Monitor and Ensure cost center statements are prepared by the 2nd working day of the following month and any explanations or adjustments required are processed before WD3 of the month for accurate group reporting
• Monitor and ensure the preparation of the overheads and trend analysis to explain the monthly movements.
• Collate and report weekly through trend analysis for all cost lines including the cost drivers to ensure any unusual movements from month to month with insightful explanations to ensure accuracy of monthly reporting
• Ensure the reconciliation of the fixed assets register to the General ledger on a monthly basis breaking down major categories of assets into cost, additions, adjustments, disposals, depreciations and net book value.
• Ensure and monitor the analysis of additions for the fixed assets from AP ledger and classification into main basis and maintain proper trail of supporting documents for additions to fixed assets.
• Ensure that all stock transactions are processed through Oracle via the sub ledgers and eliminate month end entries at GL level on provisions only.
• Monitor and ensure that stock transactions /movements (purchases and sales) are agreed to purchase ledger and sales ledger on a daily basis.
• Monitor and review stock valuation module on an ongoing basis ensuring that all relevant cost elements are captured to guarantee fair stock valuation always for all stock items
• Oversee the timely preparation of the subsidiary ledger, general ledgers, supporting schedules reconciliations statements and financial statements ready for the use in the audits for the Acquire to retire and Inventory processes

Education & Experience:
• Business/IT related degree from a university degree from a recognized university. A Degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Finance, Accounting or other IT & business-related fields is mandatory.
• Professional qualification in accounting e.g. CPA, ACCA, CIMA or an equivalent is an added advantage.
• 5-8 years accounting experience in an international company or senior manager experience in audit firms.
